Warming up for the Season

Peter Cope shares his experiences at a friendly race event in Plymouth.

As the weather is now starting to improve the sailing season is really starting to get going. In the first weekend in March, I was selected to go and helm (drive) for the University of Exeter at a match racing event in Plymouth. The racing involves a round robin of 1 on 1 races followed by a best of 3 final. We had some close battles and improved at the weekend to take the win in the final 2-0.

Also, I have now got a new style rudder for my Waszp so I have been down for the last two weekends getting some practice ahead of the start of season in two weeks' time at Datchet. I’m super excited to get back onto a race course after a couple of months off racing!

Meanwhile on the Island it was an honour to be nominated for U21 Sports Person of the Year again! it’s always so cool to see how amazing the island’s sporting success is.

That’s all for now, I’ll let you guys know how the start of season goes and thank you very much for all your support!
