Changes to LifePlan

As of 1 January 2019, our protection products LifePlan and LifePlan Lebanon will have a new reinsurer – Swiss Re will replace Hannover Re. This will result in a number of changes to the products.

There will be a change in the benefits offered, as per below. 

Notably, we will be introducing a 30 day cooling off period for new business and top ups.

Other changes

  • Removal of Japanese Yen as a plan currency option.
  • Removal of Joint Life Last Death as a plan basis option.
  • Removal of fresh start option.
  • Removal of Children’s Plan variant.

 

Literature

Current LifePlan/LifePlan Lebanon literature will be withdrawn and replaced by new literature, which must be used from 1 January 2019 onwards. This literature can be ordered as usual from your regional sales manager.

Key Information Documents (KIDs)

From 1 January, the KID for LifePlan will be a generic document (as per the existing generic KID for LifePlan Lebanon). It will be a printed/PDF document and your client will not be required to sign it as part of the application process. 

 

It will replace the Key Features Document (KFD) and a copy will, like the KFD, be held on the important documents tab in your client’s Online Service Centre (OSC) account. 

 

From 1 July, when commission disclosure comes in as part of Conduct of Business, LifePlan and LifePlan Lebanon client specific KIDs will be produced by our new illustration system.

 

Business acceptance of old LifePlan/LifePlan Lebanon policies

  • Old product illustrations must be dated before 31 December 2018 (other than rated or special terms issued by RL360)
  • A completed application form must then be received within 30 days of the date on the illustration
  • A policy must be issued within 6 months of the date on the original illustration
